I choose to work in special education because I enjoy working closely with students and their families to design programs that meet the student’s individual needs. Also, there is the added bonus of getting to work with them for multiple years! I like to tell my students at the start of every school year that my job is to work myself out of a job by helping them develop the skills they need to independently navigate school and life. My family moved to California while I was in middle school and I went to Egan for 8th grade before moving on to Los Altos High School. After high school, I attended UCSD and earned a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Political Science. Later, I received my M.Ed from National University. I have two college age daughters who also went to LASD schools (Almond and Egan) before graduating from LAHS. When not at school, I can be found sewing, baking, or walking in the neighborhood.
