After a thorough process led by Leadership Associates, a firm specializing in education management recruitment, which included extensive community engagement outreach, a statewide search, and interviews with leading candidates, the Board has identified Sandra McGonagle as our choice to be the next LASD Superintendent of Schools.

Sandra has deep roots in the District, having served in various leadership positions over the last 12 years, most recently as the District's Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. Her time as a senior leader in LASD has provided her with the requisite experience to build a strong foundation for a successful superintendency, including district and school-level leadership, curriculum development, business and finance, and community partnerships.

She has proven herself to be a visionary leader who is passionate about every child's success. When faced with challenging decisions, her first question is always, "what is best for our students?" This student-centered approach and deep experience in the district's curriculum and instruction will ensure our students continue to thrive in our excellent neighborhood schools.

Prior to joining LASD in 2010, Sandra worked in the Cupertino Union School District for 13 years in various roles including as an Assistant Principal. After her role as Principal at Santa Rita and then Blach, she became the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for the district, a position she has held for the last 7 years.

With final Board contract approval, agendized for April 25, Sandra will assume the role of Superintendent in the new Los Altos School District fiscal year that begins on July 1, 2022.
