Notes From Oak (NFO) is the Oak Avenue School newsletter and is one of the primary ways to get information to the Oak community. The newsletter generally consists of:
- School-specific information (Principal’s letter, calendar, etc.).
- The “PTA Notes” section, which includes PTA-related information (for example, information from co-presidents or committee chairs).
- School flyers – information and forms.
- Frequent Flyer – flyer containing information for the entire district (contact: Marcy Birnie Superintendent’s Assistant at 947-1152).
Notes From Oak is published every Thursday and sent home to parents via e-mail.

Notes From Oak Submission Guidelines:
The editors work to present the PTA information submitted in a concise and consistent manner. The deadline for all submissions (flyers and articles) is Friday at noon for inclusion in the following week's newsletter. No exceptions! This deadline allows time for editing and approval by the principal before the newsletter goes out for printing.
Please follow the guidelines below when submitting articles or flyers for Notes From Oak:
Articles:
- E-mail articles by Friday at noon to LYazdani@lasdschools.org with a copy to each of the editors.
- Be concise.
- Include all pertinent information (dates, time, location, contact).
- Do not include special fonts and formatting; the editors format all text in the "PTA Notes" section for consistency.
- Keep thank-you messages brief.
|
Flyers:
- Use flyers only when necessary (for example, if special formatting is important, the flyer needs to include graphics, or the flyer includes a form).
- You must submit flyers as softcopy by Friday at noon. MS Word files are preferred. If the editors cannot read your files, they will not be able to include them in Notes.
- All submissions are subject to the approval of the principal.
